Winners and Losers!

It's That Time Boys and Girls

So we wrap up our coverage of the 2005-2006 Speaker's race, now that the dust has settled, with your winners and losers. You emailed and commented, and we've compiled 'em right here.

Winners

  • Queens Honcho Tom Manton (like the house, always wins)
  • Christine Quinn (as we state the obvious)
  • Mayor Mike (for wielding his backroom wand)
  • Brooklyn Honcho Vito Lopez (for getting Brooklyn a seat at the table)
  • Newbies: East Side Council Members Garodnick, Lappin, Mendez, White & Dickens
  • NYC Real Estate (ownership)
  • Quinn's Opponents: Council Members Fidler, Katz, Comrie, Rivera and Weprin (for maintaining or improving their lots in life)
  • Quinn's Other Colleagues: Council Members Oddo, Reyna and Jackson
  • The LGBT Community (gayphoria rocked the country)
  • Unions (for scoring Bill's bill scorning the CFB's single-source ruling)
  • Backroomie (to toot our own horn)

Neutral

  • Quinn Opponent and Runner-up: Council Member Bill de Blasio (for folding and sealing a leadership post, but also leaving his supporters in the lurch)
  • Bronx Honcho Jose Rivera

Losers
  • de Blasio supporter Council Member Leticia James (for playing a bad game of poker)
  • de Blasio supporter Council Member Mike Nelson (sitting in the back of the room with a lulu reduction)
  • de Blasio supporter Council Member James Sanders (loses Economic Development post)
  • de Blasio supporter Council Member Charles Barron (now sitting under the watchful eye of Thomas Jefferson)
  • de Blasio supporter Council Member Gale Brewer (left holding the term limits bag)
  • de Blasio supporter Council Member Yvette Clarke
  • The Parkside Group and others in the Miller lobbying establishment
  • Council Member Eric Gioia (friend or foe?)
  • The Voters (who twice enacted term limits; can you say bye-bye?)
  • Newbies: Council Members Mealey, Vacca and Mark-Viverito
  • Some Miller and Vallone staff holdovers (though they may not all know it as of yet)

It is ludicrous to keep pretending that Manton is a winner. Queens used to have the Speaker. In the last two races, it hasn't even had a top-tier candidate.

In fact, the Queens machine knows it is too weak to pick the Speaker. That's why it keeps conceding defeat from the get-go, settling for crumbs and making believe that losing is winning.

Wow, Henry Stern (that feeble minded loser staring at irrelavence as he looks death in the eye) and his troll friend George Artz aka the ugliest creature on earth, have really toppped themselves today with this great list. Lets see, in five years, this blog will disappear and you're misery will be over since you two old bats will be dead.

Vito Lopez always wins. "getting Brooklyn a place at the table?"
No not Brooklyn, just Vito's interests. And everyone knows he lives in Queens.

With Clarence Norman in jail, Vito is the next big game and its about time. Vito "Lopez" has no agenda other than power and corruption.

...and Tish James STILL thinks she is going to get Co-Chair of the Brooklyn delegation? She deludes herself. Show me the votes!
